Welcome to Mrs.
Breitenbach’s
Preschool Handicapped Class
Welcome to the Preschool Class at Hamburg School! This is the
7th year of our extremely
individualized, comprehensive ABA
program. We incorporate the methods of
both Skinner and Carbone in order to
teach our preschoolers how to
learn so that they can become and remain
successful active lifetime learners. We
also follow the Preschool Handicapped
Core Curriculum Content Standards while
integrating speech, occupational
therapy, and physical therapy.
Our preschoolers attend four full days
of school (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday,
and Friday). They have off every
Wednesday so that they can rest, which
also gives each of their parents a
chance to come in and meet with the
teacher, Amy Breitenbach, for progress
updates and to address any concerns.
The classroom is set up into learning
centers with many hands-on activities
which are geared to the individual
levels for each student. Our
paraprofessionals, Andrea Budzelova and
Jill Simons, play an essential role in
ensuring that each student is actively
engaged in learning activities
throughout the school day. In addition,
the students go to daily specials which
include Music, Art, Media, Physical
Eduation, and World Language. We eat
lunch in the cafeteria with the
Kindergarten through second grade
students, and also go on field trips
every year.
Every child in our preschool program
receives one-on-one instruction daily
through discrete trials and natural
environment training as part of our
comprehensive ABA program. A
communication book designed by Mrs.
Breitenbach is sent to and from school
daily in each students’ backpack to
facilitate constant open lines of
communication, as communication is the
key to success.
