Fine Arts: Art
Mrs. O'Neill

ACTIVITIES
In art class this year, the elements and principles of art are incorporated in the projects the students work on. They will use a variety of materials in class while completing projects in different art media. Often these projects will include a reference to art history when appropriate.

Art Enrichment is a select group of students who meet during activity period to expand their art experience with various projects including stagecraft for our musical production. This year we will be painting new historic street signs for the  town of Hamburg.

STUDENT RESPONSIBILITIES
Students are responsible for following the art room rules and procedures.

They are expected to make use of and care for the art materials and supplies in an appropriate manner.

Students attend art class one period a week and should make good use of class time and finish projects in a timely manner.

Students in grades six through eight will meet  once a week for one marking period. Any student who falls behind in their art work may use the activity period to catch up, Monday through Friday.

ASSESSMENT
Grading for students in pre-school handicapped through grade three will be general and a commentary.

Students in grades four through eight will receive both a number grade and a commentary.

Student’s grades will be based on end product, process, use of class time and workmanship.

HOMEWORK
There is no regularly assigned homework in art classes. Work is done during class in the art room. Students in fourth grade will have a test in the spring for which they will need to study at home to assure success.
