Overview:
This year, the students in Kindergarten
will be introduced to letters and sounds
of the alphabet. This will eventually
lead to putting the sounds together to
create words. The students will become
aware that the written word has sound
and meaning.
In Math, students will be introduced to Sorting and Classifying,
Patterns, Numbers 0 -100,Geometry and
Fractions, Number Patterns, Money and
Time, Measurement, Graphing and
Probability, Addition, and eventually
Subtraction.
The Social Studies and Science curriculum covers a variety of topics
such as Community Helpers, Me (all about
yourself), Plants, Weather and Changes,
Home and Family Life, and Planet Earth.
Important Activities: This may include such projects as the 100th
Day of School Project. Occasionally the
student is asked to bring in an item
from home relative to the topic at hand.
Student Responsibilities: Each student is expected to come to class prepared to do
their best. Cooperation and respect, for
both teacher and other students, is
expected at all times.
Assessment:
End of Unit and periodic quizzes are
given in both Math and Phonics. These
assessments will be sent home once they
are graded and recorded.
Homework:
Homework is usually given once a week.
The student is expected to complete the
assignment and return it to school the
next day.
